The Croton Garden of Robert Heredia

I met Bob through PalmTalk and discovered that Crotons are his passion. I was in San Jose at the beginning of this week and he was kind enough to invite me to his house to see his Croton collection. Bob lives at 5,000 ft elevation and growing Crotons there can be a challenge, but they still...

    Unusual looking Crotons

LOL @ Ron! There are actually two of these Crotons, one on either side of the front entrance, and they both have forked leaves. I will get a cutting somehow. I just need to distract all the taxi drivers that hang out by the door... Nature Air has been running specials of $32 each...

    Unusual looking Crotons

No, I didn't have any clippers or anything with me to take a cutting. Plus there were too many taxi drivers standing out front asking me if I needed a ride.

    Unusual looking Crotons

On the same bush, some of the leaves were pointed, others were more rounded, and then there were those weird shaped leaves that were mixed in. You can see the shape of the new green leaf on the first photo, and the new greenish/yellow leaf on the second photo

    Unusual looking Crotons

I flew over to San Jose on Saturday and then flew back to Quepos today. While at the Pavas Airport, I noticed these Crotons growing near the entrance to the front door. I started looking a little closer and noticed some strange shaped leaves. Not all of the leaves were shaped like this, but...

New Crotons, and some older ones

I came home with a whole bunch of cuttings. Should I remove ALL leaves before trying to root a cutting? This one is growing next to the porch of their house and I always admire it whenever I am visiting them. I'm very happy that I got a piece of this one today.
