I demand an investigation into Moose's growth techniques!!

He does talk a lot about manure and mold. Maybe he's dropping some hints to his secrets!:p I think Ray/Crazy for Crotons has something up his sleeve as well and should be added to the investigation.

Kickin back, cold brew in hand, and a croton explosion!

Everything looks great. I'm only hoping it's not a Pabst Blue Ribbon. We've been enjoying the Thanksgiving leftovers- Sierra Nevada Celebration.

    Trying to save Grandma

I definately agree with the Moose on that one, it creates an incentive to bring really nice plants to the auction.

    Compte de Castelaine

Is this Madam Butterfly or Compte de Castelaine? I have another Madam Butterfly, the splotchy pink style, I'll take a pic soon.

    Compte de Castelaine

But to add to the confusion, from what I understand, there are two distinct versions of Madam Butterfly. One splotchy pink and one with more defined color variation, more like CC. Does this make sense to anyone?

    Croton Naming Conventions

This is what Ray gave me as Van Houtii. It looks just like the one in the book. I remember seeing it at Ray's place before the freeze and the leaves were huge. The one in the picture was air-layered after defoliation. The leaves are getting bigger but still only a third of what they were...

    Frienship Requests

It's probably a little too "facebook" for this site. It's easy to PM as is. We are already friends in this small network, it might be in poor taste to differentiate.

    Number 2 of unknowns.

This one looks Mona Lisa-ish. When the time comes I'll trade a Claude Lorraine or the Connie Cutler looking croton I posted a few weeks ago. Gotta love those pinks.

    Connie Cutler or Colombiana?

Does anyone know any history or information on the croton Connie Cutler? We have an old croton, original to the house, that consistantly holds all kinds of color and variation. It was suggested that it's Colombiana, however, in the book it's more consistant to Connie Cutler page 87. The first...
